Vacations are fun but expensive, especially food costs, here are five ways to lower vacation food costs for you and your family. These are all very simple and easy tips for anyone to use and understand and your budget will thank you. Now the next vacation will be better than ever with less food cost to you.

The first and most reliable way for many people to lower food costs is to make a budget, now that may seem strange to some, but this is the first step to take if you want to be serious about saving some bucks while on vacation. You and your family can even make this a group project and have some fun while preparing your vacation food budget. This helps get everyone to the same page of the program as well as show the food costs to all. It is now that everyone can state their likes, dislikes, must haves and most wanted food preferences. You will find that most people will stick to a budget such as this when they are allowed a little input into it as well. One more benefit of a food budget for vacations, is that you can see exactly where your money is going, no more shocking surprises will be in store for you with unexpected food costs. This will also make it much easier to decide on when and where to stop to eat.

The second way to lower some of your vacation food costs is to take advantage of the many coupons from sources such as magazines, newspapers and online vendors. Coupons are an excellent way to lower vacation food costs and they cost you nothing. These coupon bonanzas can however be purchased if you wish. There are booklets that offer 2 for 1 dining and discounts on meals at particular establishments which can be purchased for around 25 dollars. These booklets are only going to lower your food costs if you are going to use them regularly while on vacation and the places are those that you would normally dine at anyway. Scan those papers and buy duplicates or triplicates if you see some really fantastic offer that you can take advantage of while on vacation. Your family can also help with this seek and find mission.

The third way to lower vacation food costs is to pack it yourself.. Yes, take advantage of that room in the trunk or van, grab those coolers and get your food supplies ready for vacation and instantly decrease your food costs. If you stop along the road at fast food places your budget will go south quickly. You can pack juice boxes, soft drinks, ice, crackers, sandwiches and chips at a fraction of the food costs you would pay in a convenience store or restaurant. The foods are always handy and available and this cuts down on time wasted looking for places to eat while on your vacation as well as decreases your food costs.

The fourth way to lower vacation food costs is to take advantage of hotels that offer breakfasts as a freebie. Tons of hotels are offering some form of breakfast as part of their pitch. Check out the selections and decide which is best for your family. This will decrease food costs greatly. You can choose from a continental breakfast to a full breakfast bar, depending on the hotel selected.

The fifth way to lower vacation food costs is to share food. You don’t have to buy one of every item for each person in the group. Many people want to just try or sample a drink or a dessert. If one box of cookies can be shared among the group this helps with the overall food costs as well as cuts down on waste. Ask your family about sharing items and see what they think.

Sixth way to save money on vacation food. Stay in a condo instead of a hotel. When you arrive at the destination, hit the grocery store and pick up breakfast foods, snacks (you can take them with you), drinks, and lunch products. If you have kids, this will save an ENORMOUS amount of money even if you eat dinner out every night.
