Creating financial goals sets a foundation for financial success.  Without them, the likelihood of success is unlikely.  That is why it is so important to write your goals down and keep track of them.  Below, you’ll find a 7 article series written to provide step by step instructions for creating your own financial goals.

Step 1

Identify your Financial Goals - The first step involves identifying your goals. You need to look deep down and think about what type of financial future you’d like to have.

Step 2

Prioritize your Financial Goals - Once you’ve established your goals, you’re ready to break them apart to separate the important from the not so important.

Step 3

Set Deadlines for your Financial Goals - You need to figure out a time line. When first starting out, give yourself a little extra time because problems or emergencies could arise and set you back weeks, months and sometimes years.

Step 4

Identify and Assess Obstacles to your Financial Goals - There will always be obstacles. It is your job to identify those obstacles and find ways to overcome them.

Step 5

Educating yourself On Personal Finance - It is always good to have some basic knowledge in personal finance. If you are financially clueless, you might want to pick up a few good books at the library.

Step 6

Listing the Benefits to your Financial Goals - Listing the benefits just gives you that extra push and will aid in keeping you motivated.

Step 7

Staying Motivated - Creating the goals is the easy part. Hitting those planned or unplanned obstacles are always a huge deterrent, but you have to stay strong and motivated.
