You are constantly bombarded with many credit card offers. You used to find it fun to browse and scan through their offers. Now, you find receiving credit card offers irritating, time consuming and it just adds up clutter in your home. Opting out of credit card offers will not hurt your credit standing; neither will it create any problems with your current credit cards. Sometimes, you have to think twice before throwing away the offer, they could be very good offers if you take time to read them and study them. But if you are satisfied with your current status and do not want a change, then you can follow the following steps:

Step 1

You have one option, you can immediately throw them all away without having to read through them and hope that they will stop sending you credit card offers. This option does not prevent credit card offers from reaching your doorsteps. Credit Card offers will still reach your doorstep. Before you throw them away, make sure that you cut off the portion that states your name and address; you don’t want that kind of information getting into the wrong hands.

Step 2

Another option for opting out credit card offers is to call your bank. If these credit card offers are from your bank, you can call your bank and tell them that you want to opt out of the credit card offers and that you are satisfied with your current credit card. They will politely tell you that they received your request.

Step 3

If you are receiving pre-approved credit card offers, you can choose to block those out for a few years or for a life-time. Go to www.optoutprescreen.com to opt out credit card offers.

Step 4

If you want to process opting out of credit card offers, be prepared to share general personal information like your full name, address, telephone number, social security number etc. Don’t get paranoid, these are used to complete your transaction so that you can finally get those credit card offers out of your hands and mail box.

Step 5

Your name will be removed from the pre-screened list and you won’t receive credit card offers anymore. However, if you have a spouse with a join account both of you should opt out or else you will still continuing receiving them. You can send mail to Direct Marketing Association and request them to add your name to the Do Not Mail File. Your name will stay on the Do Not Mail file and you won’t receive any credit offers for time being.

Step 6

If you follow these few simple steps, you wont ever get credit card offers anymore. But there are still some local groups and stores that might send you credit offers. If this happens to you, you can directly call the sender of the offer and inform them that you are not interested. If they want to save time, money and effort, they better skip you out. Be polite in telling them this though.
