You already have a credit card but you want to get a new credit card that has a low interest rate. You can’t get that low interest rate credit card without any action on your part. Follow these few simple steps that will allow you to get a low interest rate credit card.

Step 1

Good credit rating - Your credit history should be impeccable and without any problems. If you have a bad credit history, you can try to forget about getting a low interest rate credit card because this will have a damaging effect on your credit rating.

Step 2

Do research. You can search the Internet about banks offering low interest rate credit cards. Sometimes, you don’t even have to go to the Internet; do you remember those pesky pre-qualified or pre-approved credit card offers? You used to consider them as junk. Forget that concept for a while and search through them, they might contain a low interest rate credit card.

Step 3

Study the offer. You should risk the chances of getting misled with offers. You might think that the offer is good. For a Short term, the offer will be good. Most likely, it will hurt you in the long run. For example, they will have very low introductory interest rates. These low interest rates can expire and when they expire, a higher interest rate will take their place. Your once low interest rate credit card will suddenly evolve to a high interest rate credit card. Or the credit card might have low interest rate charges but there is no grace period for you to pay your balance.

Step 4

Take note that just because the credit card offers a low interest rate, it doesn’t mean that it is the best offer around. This means that you might have to pay over the top annual fees and other fees that the bank might deem appropriate. You have to study their offers carefully.

Step 5

Once you selected the perfect bank and the perfect low interest rate credit card, you can now talk to their customer service representative. Remember all the questions that are still bothering you. Think of all the scenarios that bother you that weren’t explained in the Internet or the offers. Or there might be some parts that you have difficultly in understanding. You can list all your concerns down.

Step 6

You do your initial research; try to clarify what you learned with the customer service officer, their terms and conditions may have changed over the time. Clarify your understanding with the terms and conditions. You should understand everything before you will apply.

Step 7

If you are satisfied that this is the best low interest rate credit card, you should fill up the application form and submit the required documents and data that the bank will require.

Step 8

There are times when you apply for a low interest rate credit card and you won’t get approved, this might affect your credit rating. So before applying be sure that you will be approved.
