1) Men do not have to spend a week’s paycheck on women to get our attention. It’s the little things that happen day in and day out that make the most difference. A $1.99 rose purchased from 7-11 on the way home lets us know you were thinking abut us.
2) If a man really wants to get a woman’s attention he should offer to cook a meal, babysit the kids, or help with the cleaning. There is no financial investment required while the dividends could be huge. I’d do almost anything for a man if he’d do the laundry, especially the folding and putting away.
3) Men do not have to spend a week’s paycheck to show they are sorry. Many times when men screw-up, which they seem to do often, they run to the store to buy a gift. Probably because they are trying to avoid a confrontation and don’t know what to say. Sometimes a simple, sincere apology is enough. Of course, it does depend upon what they did wrong.
4) Men need to know that if it’s on sale the woman is probably going to buy it. For many women finding a sale rack is like hitting a home run or scoring a touchdown. Sometimes we buy something we really don’t need just because it was a good buy. It might hang in our closet for months or never get used but that doesn’t matter. We got a good buy.
5) Men need to understand that women spend much more on personal grooming items than men do. Even when we are broke, we always find enough money to buy makeup and have our hair done. Watching the movie, What Women Want, with Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt should help men understand what women go through to look beautiful.
6) It is useless for men to complain about how much money women spend at home parties. We know the items have a tremendous markup. We are not buying them because we got a deal. It’s a party, a chance to get out of the house, away from hubby and kids, adult conversation and good food. Yes, we buy things we do not need or pay $50 for a candle; it’s usually one woman supporting another woman.
7) Sometimes men try to give women everything. They work really hard to provide the finest. But in doing this, they often neglect the wife and children. We may have everything that money can buy, but we spend too much time alone and the children rarely see their dad. Most of us would rather have love and time instead of a fat bank account.
8 ) The best financial investment that a man could make for a working woman, especially when there are kids, is to provide us with maid service. Even if we make sufficient income to pay for this, usually we put the husband and children’s needs before our own. It is difficult juggling a job, keeping house, raising kids, taking care of a husband, and doing all the other stuff we usually finds time for. The man might consider buying a different car, not joining the club, or making a personal sacrifice to give his wife maid service.
9) Women think that men could save money if they learned to be more organized. Women keep everything in their purses; Coupons, Buy One Meal Get One Free and Phone Numbers. At the grocery store you often get stuck behind a women sorting through her coupons. How often do you see a man do this? Women don’t call 411 as often because we don’t need to. Men, on the other hand, call 411 many times to get the same number over and over. With some phone companies this can be almost $2.00 a call. Men then ask why their bill is so high. I’m not suggesting they carry a purse but perhaps find somewhere, like the glove compartment or a briefcase, to keep items that will save them money.
10) Women do not like to ask their partners for money. It makes us feel like a child again and in some ways inferior. If a woman earns her own money this is probably not an issue. But if she does not work and depends upon her partner to meet her financial needs, money should be available to her. It should not be used to control, reward or punish.
