1. Put a brick in your toilet tank - The brick takes up space in the tank which leaves less room for water. This trick can save you hundreds of gallons per year.

2. Water your lawn before the sun comes up to avoid evaporation - There is no point watering the lawn when the sun is beating down on the grass and only a small percentage of the water makes it into the ground.

3. Fix any toilet leaks or tap leaks right away - The amount of water wasted due to a leak is absurd.

4. Take showers instead of baths - The average shower with a low-flow showerhead will use far less water than a normal bath.

5. Turn the tap water off while brushing your teeth - I use to do that all the time. Leaving the water running while brushing your teeth can waste hundreds of gallons per year.

6. Replace your showerheads with low-flow showerheads - Getting use to the lower pressure takes time but you can save a lot of water this way.

7. Rinse your dishes or fruits/vegetables in the sink/bowl - Never leave the water running to rinse items.

8. Use plants that need very little water - They are easier to maintain and you don’t have to water them everyday other day like most flowers/plants.

9. Collect water from your roof to water your garden - Get yourself a decent size barrel and collect the run-off from the roof to water the garden.

10. Teach your kids about water conservation - This is by far the most important point. In order to save water, everybody has to be on the same page.
