Many people believe the first date involves dinner in an expensive restaurant, a show perhaps and more. In essence all of this costs a lot of money and shows a certain lack of imagination. Don’t be put off by the cost. The first date can be a relatively cheap but unforgettable experience.
You Will Need:
Local knowledge.
Some pre-planning.
A picnic hamper.
Food.
Wine.
A corkscrew.
A blanket.
A red rose.
Step1
Is it summer or winter? The season and outside air temperature will be a factor to consider.
Step 2
It’s summer. Prepare a picnic. Cold roast chicken, a green salad with a vinaigrette dressing and some nice Italian bread can be bought at reasonable cost in your local deli. Prepare a hamper with the food, plates, cutlery and wineglasses. Buy some wine and include that, too. Don’t forget the corkscrew!
Step 3
On a fine evening go to your local park, lay the blanket under an old tree, spread out the food and open the wine. At the end of the evening give her the rose. She’ll remember that evening when she has forgotten all about all those fancy restaurants.
Step 4
It’s winter. Go to your favorite art gallery. Choose the evening when it stays open late. Spend the evening immersed in the pictures and stop at the gallery café for a meal before going home. If the gallery does not open in the evenings you will have to reserve this one for a daytime outing at the weekend.
Step 5
Winter/summer. Arrange a dinner party in your home. Make it a double date with one other couple. The chicken and salad main course with nice Italian bread will do just fine if you don’t cook that well. Use nice tableware and make the room romantic with mood music, flowers and candles. Done tastefully, she’ll be most impressed.
Step 6
Weekend date. Have a walk around your town or city and show your date all your favorite places. That little pub down by the waterfront is an ideal place for a cup of coffee and a sandwich. She will be very impressed and this will let her get to know you better. With a good itinerary this could be the best option
Tip:
I am against a first date being in your home unless there are other people there. It could scare her off by making the whole affair appear too intimate too quickly.
