This is an astounding yes! In today’s economy it has come down to the fact that millions of people need to search and find new ways of cutting their every growing budget. Coupons is a great place to start, especially with the fact that after your monthly rent or mortgage bills the gas bill for your vehicle and your grocery bill probably run neck in neck as being the second highest bill. Here are some tips to finding and using coupons to save on your grocery bill.

Where can I find coupons?

Coupons are everywhere you just have to open your eyes and look for them. The best place to start is your Sunday newspaper. Every week the Sunday paper will have several coupons in it, every week but holiday weekends that is. You need to go through those coupons and cut out the things you use regularly, but don’t stop there. Now go back through them and look the coupons over more closely. If you use say a certain side dish but the coupon is for a different brand cut it out, you might want to try the new brand. You never know when that brand will be on sale so it is best to have the coupon in case.

You can also find coupons in the store. Many stores have what are called smartsource boxes. These are the little red or black boxes that hang off the shelf usually near the product it is for. If you use that product pull the coupon, actually pull a few coupons and wait for a sale. Even if you don’t use the product but you think you would with a sale and the coupon saves then pull the coupon and save it.

The key to coupons is to get organized. You can buy a small coupon holder at just about any store for around $2-$3. Take the time to organize you coupons so that you can easily find them in the store.

How do I use a coupon?

Using the coupon is easy. You simply match the coupon to the product, put the product in your cart and when you check out hand the coupon to the cashier. The secret to using coupons is to match the coupons with a great sale. So for example say the mustard you use in your home is regularly $1.79 and you have a coupon for .75 off. If you need the product right then using the coupon will be a good deal since you need it anyways. BUT if you don’t need it right away hold on to the coupon because there could be a sale for the mustard next week. If it is on sale for $1 and you use your .75 coupon you will get your mustard for .25! So if you wait for the sale and use your coupon you have saved $1.54! Now that might not sound like a lot of money but think about the fact that even if you can save $1.54 for 20 of the items you buy per month you will save a total of $30.80 per month! If you can save that you will save a whopping $369. 60 per year!

So get out those scissors and cut out those coupons and start saving!
