I’ve known people who stopped for breakfast every day on the way to work and then went out to eat every day at lunch. I’ve always thought they must be making a lot more money than I am. Occasionally you might need to stop on the way to work. Going out with co-workers for lunch can be fun. But if you spend $10 a day eating out, that’s $50 a week or $200 a month. You can bring meals from home for much less than that. Use the difference to pay down your credit cards.
A Few Tips:
- Make you lunch ahead of time so that you don’t have to worry about making them in the morning if you’re running late or just plain forget.
- Make sure you have lots of extra snacks so that if you get a craving, you aren’t heading over the the vending machine or cafeteria.
- Just because your co-workers are going doesn’t mean you have to go. If you do go bring your lunch with you.
- Make yourself a fun and tasty lunch so you aren’t tempted to eat out.
Remember that frugal living isn’t a chore, it’s a lifestyle.
