Frugal Tip of the Day - Buy in Bulk and Divide

Ever see those boxes with individual packs of 100 calorie snacks? I bet you think they’re great because they’re quick and portioned perfectly for children and people trying to watch their figure. Although it is handy, it’s much cheaper to buy a large box of a certain snack then to buy them in individual 100 calorie packs.
Lets take Ritz Chips as an example. You can buy Ritz Thinsations for $2.99 at the grocery store. Each box contains six 22 gram packages giving you a total of 132 grams. Now you can buy a package of Ritz Chips for $2.39 which has a weight of 225 grams.
Lets do the Math!
*132 Grams for $2.99 = $2.27 per 100 grams
*225 Grams for $2.39 = $1.06 per 100 grams
**You save $1.21 per 100 grams if you buy it in one big package instead of little ones. That’s a savings of over 45%.
If you enjoy having the convenience of having them individually packed, just buy some baggies and do it yourself or better yet place them in your sandwich container or bag so that you minimize plastic waste. Cutting down or eliminating all these individually wrapped items will not only save us money, but it will also save the environment.

Great post, I always buy the small packages of food but I’m wasting money for being lazy. Number 58
