Frugal Tip of the Day - Make a Summer List
The Problem
Summer is just around the corner and I bet everybody is excited to enjoy the sun. The summer does come with a cost though. When I first evaluated my spending, I noticed I was spending twice as much on entertainment in the summer than I was during the winter months. After going through my credit card statements I noticed that I would eat out much more in the summer and spend a substantial amount of money on movies and gas. Many people don’t realize that during the winter months, we stay at home more. If we stay at home, we tend to spend less.
The Solution to Spending Less
So what do we do to avoid the increase in spending during the summer months? It’s quite simple actualy, the first step is to create a list of things you like to do during the summer. The second step is eliminating things that cost too much and the third step is to do all of those activities.
How I’m Doing it this Year
My girlfriend and I are both creating a list of 25 things we want to do this summer. Once both lists are complete, we then start to compromise and compare. I say compromise because there will be things I will want to do that she might not want to do and vice versa and compromise will not only avoid conflict, but keep both parties happy. When making our master list, we always make sure we are within our budget. Don’t have any Ideas? Have a look at 15 Fun Cheap Date Ideas. So far this is my list….
