A lot of people have become so dependent on their credit cards. They cannot do anything without their credit cards. Some stores and companies also do majority of their transactions with credit cards. So, how would people rent a car without a credit card?

Step 1

You should have cash on your hands first. You can pay the car rental company in cash. People forgot that cash still makes the world go round. A credit card is as good as cash but somehow a lot of people are getting things the other way around. There are car rental companies take cash as well as credit cards. This might seem difficult but you can look for car rental companies that accept cash. You can look into the yellow pages or you can search the Internet for car rental companies such as these.

Step 2

Take note of the locations of these car rental companies. Are they situated in far-flung areas? Are they accessible? How much does the car rental company require you to pay? Do you have to give them a down payment or a cash bond? Read their conditions and policies. You can choose the car rental company that will best suit your needs and budget.

Step 3

Go to the car rental company and make further inquiries. If that is too much of a hassle, you can always call them or send them an email. Tell them that you want to rent a car from them, you have cash and you don’t have a credit card. Tell them that you want to rent a car but you don’t have a credit card.

Step 4

Don’t give up. Keep on searching, you will eventually stumble upon a car rental company that will be more than glad to transact business with you. The most important thing they should remember is that you can pay them, just not through a credit card.

Step 5

If you feel like giving up, remember that you don’t have a credit card in the first place. Then think of all the advantages when you pay in cash. If you rent a car using your credit card, you will still have to pay your statement when it comes. If you incur delays in payment, you will have to pay interest and penalty charges. Paying in cash is advantageous because there is no paper trail. The transaction is completed the moment you pay your cash. There is nothing else for you to do except abide with the rules concerning the car rental.

Step 6

If worse comes to worse, you can always walk, that’s what your feet are for. Seriously, try to do a more thorough search online. If your chances do not improve, you can ask a friend or family member to accommodate you. Tell them your car rental problem and how difficult it is to rent a card without a credit card. Ask him/her to rent a car for you using his/her credit card and you will pay him/her with cash. Stick to your promise of paying everything and take care of the car. Or you will ruin a beautiful relationship.

It’s definitely possible to rent a car without a credit card, but it’s not always easy. More and more companies are starting to allow debit card and cash use, but some companies still won’t let you, as we discovered here: http://www.creditcards.com/credit-card-news/rent-car-debit-credit-card-1276.php
