Are Personal Finance Bloggers fake?
Tonight I was catching up on my favorite financial blogs and found a very interesting question posted by a reader on The Simple Dollars Reader Mailbag #4. The reader asked the following question:
Do you think financial bloggers post their honest and unbiased opinion on personal finance? Are they following the same advise that they post for readers?
I thought this to be a great question because we often never practise what we preach. Just because we know the right answer, doesn’t mean we actually do it. If you take me for example, I know that I’ve written all my articles based on deep thought and personal experience but how do the readers know that?. I know my co-writer Marg also writes her own article’s based on life experience but once again it is difficult to judge whether or not a blogger is unbiased.
To prove that this blog is the REAL DEAL and that I’m not a fake, I’ve decided to start a weekly update on my frugal diet and workout, my weekly budget, my groceries and anything else that I do on a weekly basis. Of course each weekly update post will come with lots of pictures and thoughts. I want my readers to know that things I’ve done actually have saved me money and that they can rest assure that they’ll save money too.

Got something to say?

I hate when people say things like PF bloggers are fake because there are some real situations out there. I personally put all my real business out on my blog.
I post real figures in my daily finances…except my salary and I give tips on how I personally save money. All the things I listed are things I have personally done, not just stuff I am spouting.
keep up the good work here. I like your response to the question.
Although I occasional fail to meet my goals, or fail to practice the ideals, I am certainly not faking it. And at least for the bloggers that I follow, I’d have to say they fit into the same category as me.
That’s said, I wouldn’t believe everything I read on the Internet without verify the fact with other trusted sources.
@lulugal11: The real figures are great, I think that’s what all bloggers should be doing.
