*Being aware of energy consumption won’t only save you hundreds of dollars per year; it will also help the environment. You owe it to yourself and the planet to cut down on electrical costs.

1. Add a programmable thermostat - Save money by adjusting the temperature for different times of the day.

2. Install ceiling fans - This method is substantially cheaper than an air conditioner.

3. Use your small appliances - They use roughly less than half the amount of energy than a regular stove.

4. Use LED lights during the Holiday Season - They last longer and use up to 75% less energy than the standard Christmas outdoor bulb.

5. Add some compact fluorescent lights - Use them in high use areas. Florescent bulbs offer the same brightness but they last longer and use less energy than your standard light bulb.

6. Regularly clean/replace your air filters - Clean or replace all air conditioning filters on a regular basis to maximize efficiency.

7. Turn off all unused electrical devices - Most of us are guilty of this. How many of us leave a room without turning off the light or leave our computers running when we aren’t using them?

8. Use solar garden lights - They look nice and offer the light needed for your pathway or garden.

9. Wash and dry only full loads of dishes and clothing - I’ve done this far too many times in my life.

10. Set your electric water heater to 120 degrees - We often keep our hot water heater at too high of a temperature. To help keep in the heat; you can also insulate the tank and the pipes.

I’ve just installed 4 solar garden lights and they look great. They are not only safe, cost-saving but also quite easy to install. I bought them from this on-line store http://www.justhomedecor.com/estoreusa/home.php?cat=676

Got something to say?
