10 Ways to Save money while Grocery Shopping
1. Never shop on an empty stomach - On an empty stomach, you’ll often get cravings for very specific foods that you most likely weren’t planning on getting.
2. Always take a peek at the weekly coupons - Great deals can be found to those who look for them!
3. Avoid prepared foods - They are often costly and the additives/preservatives are never good for you.
4. Buy half a cow - I find I spend a large part of my grocery budget on meat. I’ll often buy it in bulk and freeze it or sometimes even buy a few chickens and half a cow when I have the chance.
5. Buy in bulk - Often you can save money just by buying in bulk.
6. Get a rewards card - If your local grocery store offers a rewards card, take advantage of it.
7. Write down a grocery list and STICK to it! - Try and stick to the essentials and stay away from the junk food aisleto avoid buying on impulse.
8. Try to buy generic - I find for some foods, there’s very little difference between the generic label and the name brand label.
9. Stockpile when things are on sale - I like to buy common pantry items such as sugar, pasta, toilet paper, paper towel, etc. when they come on sale. You can save hundreds a year doing this alone.
10. Buy fruits and veggies that are in season - Due to an abundance of the produce coming all at once, grocery stores have little choice but to lower their prices.
